What is WaveSurgeon?
WaveSurgeon is a tool designed to automate the process of editing samples.
WaveSurgeon automatically finds individual segments and loop points within a
sample. This makes it particularly suitable for drum samples, but may be
used to break apart anything (including vocals).
WaveSurgeon:
Allows reprogramming of loops, and the creation new loops or fills.
The overlaying of loops which would otherwise be at different tempos;
In conjunction with a sequencer, can be used to slow down and speed up a
loop, without changing its pitch;
In conjunction with a sequencer, can transpose / pitch bend a loop,
without changing the speed;
Can save each segment to a separate wave file;
Saves a midi-timing template based upon the sample to a standard midi
file.
Can replace single drum sounds with others;
Allows precise editing of loops.
WaveSurgeon will saves all segments into a SoundFont 2.0 file for AWE and SB
Live soundcards, DLS file for suitable soundcards (e.g. Montego), or a PBF file
for Pinnacle soundcards. The program also allows filtering with the AWE`s
on-board filter (especially useful for drum+bass), and the addition of effects
(reverb, etc.) in real time. New in 2.7 is GigaSampler support.
Samplers are also catered for. WaveSurgeon can transfer samples to and from SDS
and SMIDI compliant samplers (SMIDI is supported in advanced registration only),
and can map samples to Yamaha A3000 and EX, Akai S2000, S3000XL, and S3200XL,
and E-Mu ESI / E64 / E4 samplers
